Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

Vision:

Gaining Gospel progress by declaring God’s glory and making disciples in                  the name of Jesus Christ among the nations by the power of the Holy Spirit

Gaining Gospel Progress

Gaining Gospel Progress: As we desire to make spiritual progress in the world (community & nations), we must be intentional and purposeful in all of our efforts. If we are to maximize God’s glory on the earth, we cannot do everything (partner with every missionary, work among every people group), but everything we do must be done with excellence and purpose (1 Cor 10:31, Col 3:17, 1 Peter 4:11). To that end, our focus is strategic in three ways:

Where the church is weak or absent: Rather than go anywhere and everywhere, we want to be focused in particular areas (among the 6,900+ unreached groups) where the indigenous local church does not already have the strength to provide a significant Gospel witness among a key people group (Rom 15:20).  See document, The Unreached Peoples and their Role in the Great Commission for more information.

In accord with our biblical convictions as a church: In an effort to maximize the progress of the Gospel, we will partner with individuals and ministries that share key areas of our doctrinal positions: the exaltation of Jesus Christ, a high view of God and the sufficiency of His Word, passion for the local church, biblical leadership, primacy of preaching, theological training, and biblical discipleship.

Where God is at work: Not all spiritual progress is humanly measurable. However, our desire is to be a part of ministries where there is measurable progress being made for the Great Commission.

Declaring God's Glory

Declaring God’s Glory: We declare His glory, faithful to the Gospel message, and God draws people to Himself. We proclaim God’s glory among the nations and his marvelous works among all the peoples (Psalm 96:3).

Making Disciples: The core of the Great Commission is to multiply disciples who believe and strive to live lives worthy of the Gospel (Matthew 28:18-20, Philippians 1:27). God’s prescribed method and most effective model for multiplying disciples is in the context of the local church.  All of our missions support must be within the context of the local church (either in church planting, in service to an existing local church, or a Christian organization working to help support the local church). Christ’s building efforts are in the context of the Church (Matthew 16:18) and our efforts should be in the same direction.  Church organizations (i.e. para-church) must demonstrate how they serve the local church.

In Christ: We declare God’s glory in Christ Jesus and we make disciples in His Name. Everything we do is centered in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ (1Corinthians 1:23).

Among the Nations: Christ’s Church is a light for the people of the entire world, bringing salvation to the ends of the earth (Acts 13:47). The Chapel’s vision is also a global vision that prioritizes work that begins in our community, state, Country, and extends to all people groups among the nations.   Our aim is living and serving with the people that are in need of a sustained Gospel witness (Acts 1:8).
